Research and Community Service

Conducting research and providing community service are the major responsibilities of college. Accordingly, Global College is doing its level best in carrying out problem-solving research & demand-driven community service. To successfully accomplish these missions, the College has organized the research and community service wing being headed by a vice president since November 2020.

The Research and Community Service vice president office is structured under two directorates; namely, Research and Publication, and Community Service. These directorates are working to attain the vision of the college to be the leading center of excellence in research and community service by 2020 and to ultimately improve livelihood of the society.

The college has done many community engagement activities. These activities are categorized as follows:

2.1 Based on Research / Assessment

  • Educational services were provided for Prisoners in Rehabilitation Center
  • Construction of Passengers waiting areas in Ambo bus station
  • Training provided for women entrepreneurs sponsored by ‘Ubuntu Family Based Child Support Initiatives’, a local NGO

2.2 Based on Requests from Individuals & Government Offices (Demand Driven)

  • Full scholarship for students
  • Supply of materials and food for needy people
  • Supply of sports materials for different Woredas of West Shoa Zone
  • Sponsoring health insurance
  • Feeding street children
  • Material supply for elders and people with disability
  • Donation of books for West Shoa Zone education office
  • Sponsoring Hachalu Hundesa’s football club
  • Participation in different sports festivals at zonal & regional levels
  • Supporting writers of books, film producers, etc.

2.3 Based on National Call for Intervention on Social Affairs

  • Construction of houses for internally displaced people (IDP) & maintenance of houses for low-income families
  • Acquisition of bonds for the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam
  • Monetary support for Borena people affected by drought
  • Environmental cleaning, participation in green legacy initiatives, and more
  • Monetary support to Ambo City Administration during COVID-19
  • Feeding primary school students (Support given in kind)
